1968 saw a second World Championship for Hill, the zenith of his career. Strong placings in 1969 finished with a bad accident at Watkins Glen resulting in two bady damaged knees and spell away from the circuits (not the 12 months the doctors prescribed!) A win at Le Mans in 91972 was the last significant achievement on his long career, the flying accident at Elstree in November 1975 taking the life of one of motorsport's most popular characters, and other members of the fledgling Embassy Hill GP racing team
