The Open Road - Chris Bucknall
Born into a car-loving family (his grandfather - a coffer grower in India - owned many intersting cars from Bentley, Alvis and Railton) Chris describes the particular cars owned by his father (Bill), whose concession to family life on the birth of his first child was to buy an Aston Martin DB2 in addition to his Healey 100 BN1; thus making fours seats for parents and children. A convertible DB2/4 succeeded the coupé DB2 (giving additional occasional seating on the rear), and just a few months later, a trip to London results in the purchase of an Aston Martin DB3S.

A hard act to follow perhaps (the car was sold for £750!) but later cars in Bill Bucknall's ownership included several E-Type Jaguars, a Healey 3000, a Mini Cooper and the only 4-door saloon he ever owned, a Ford Cortina 1600E. Unsurprisingly Chris is just as enthusiastic for modern motoring and helps organise The Grand Tour, a modern motoring event described as being a cross between 'To Catch a Thief' and 'Wacky Races'!

Robs Lamplough Racing Reminiscences II -
The Editor continues his interview with the racing driver, aviator and collector of historic motor cars and aeroplanes. It's 1965, and Robs has bought the ex-Team Harris, Peter Arundell Lotus 27, together with an uprated Lotus 23. Definitely set in the 'Swinging '60s', the team was based in Adam and Eve Mews in Kensington and the 1965 and '66 seasons saw on-track action with the likes of Charles Lucas, Roy Pike, 'Bubbles' Horsley, Jonathan Williams, Chris Irwin and Piers Courage.

Maurice Trintignant - A French Gentleman
Neville Hay summarises the career of the Grand Prix driver and Le Mans winner, who passed away recently at the age of 87. Awarded the 'Legion d'Honneur, Trintignant was a skilled and careful driver who knew his strngths and limitations; and never stopped trying.
