The Editor Interviews John Young Part II - Now a regular racing driver, Young describes to Charles Harbord his sharing of a rare Lotus-Connaught with John 'Noddy' Coombs at the 1955 Goodwood Nine Hours (Coombs crashes it while wearing borrowed driving gloves from Young 'I should never have worn those bloody gloves!'), as well as road cars that included a BMW 328, MG PB, a Jaguar SS100 and several Frazer Nash Le Mans Replicas.
In 1955 his garage was an official Mercedes agent and as a result sold (and ran for his own use) many 300SL 'Gullwings' and Roadsters. Customers for the latter including the comedian Tony Hancock and Swedish actress Anita Ekberg.
The Original Rolls-Bentley? - John Donner tells how his grandfather ('who you might call a tycoon') ran a 1935 Bentley 3 1/2 litre Barker FHC with sterling silver R-R Spirit of Ecstacy mascot on the radiator as he 'did not wish to be seen driving the product of a bankrupt manufacturer!'
100 Not Out - The Editor interviews Edgar Kehoe, the most senior member of the British Racing Drivers Club. 100 years old in 2004, Kehoe first started competing on motorcycles in 1922. Success in trials - for AJS and Douglas - led to a start in cars (still off road) in Rileys and HRGs amongst others.
He soon competed in road races such as the Ulster TT and at Brooklands.
Neville Hay's Diary - Veteran British motor racing commentator Neville Hay discusses the future of Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb, the sale of Brands Hatch Circuits Ltd to Jonathan Palmer's Motor Sport Vision, and the state of modern F1.
Motorbike Miscellany - In this month's issue Mike Jackson profiles the heroes of televised motorcross in the 1960s. Men such as Dave Bickers, Chris Horsfield and Vic Eastwood, riding factory machines from Greeves, BSA and Matchless.
